Skye's New Plan: Skype launched a new monthly subscription services, which allows people to make cheap international calls across the web to more than 170 countries to landlines and mobile phones. The new plan has expanded its subscription packages for more than 170 countries offering up to 60 per cent savings compared to skype's usual rate - pay as you go rate per minute. This lets user to call from their laptop or Skype mobile application, to anywhere in the world at low cost. It commences from 69 pence a month costing as little as £0.01 a minute. These rates now do not vary dependent on the country and are available from today, May 6. Skype's Features: Neil Stevens, general manager of Skype’s Consumer Business Unit, said the new packages were “massively disruptive to the telco market”. Also on his talk to the Telegraph at the Web 2.0 Expo in San Francisco, he said, “This is ground breaking in terms of prices, where people can call to almost any phone in the world for less.” Users can now even call to mobiles through this paid subscription process and can save money by calling to different countries - which do not vary the prices dependent on the country. Apart from this, Skype will be rolling out a feature next week to allow a group video chat between 5 users. This beta version feature will be available for free initially, however, based on the feedback, usage and other parameters it might soon become a paid option. This would be a added advantage to both Business man and regular users. Skype users can continue to call mobile phones and landlines globally without subscriptions by purchasing ‘Skype Credit’ by using the ‘Pay As You Go’ option. Make Cheap International Calls: Consumers may want to consider making cheap international calls with their smartphones or landlines. As making international calls is also a hassle free process. Simply add the access number and the country code and make desired calls at your convenient time. |
