Nokia, the world's largest mobile manufacturer, has launched its new version of Skype software which is based on the Symbian operating system. This new version can be downloaded free on the 'smartphones' of the Finnish manufacturer through its virtual store 'Ovi Store'. The application developed by Skype will make free calls from a Nokia 'smartphone' to other Skype users anywhere in the world, either through wifi or a wireless network, (GPRS, EDGE or 3G). Consumers can make cheap international calls from their mobile phones following an announcement of new Skype software. The popularly of Internet phone program will offer consumers the option of sending free messages, share files and make calls to phones at lowest prices. Wide Appeal - Make International Calls at Cheaper Rate Jo Harlow, Senior Vice President for Smartphones Nokia, said “Symbian enables us to bring smartphones to more and more people and ensures scale for our solutions and compelling services, such as Skype. We’re seeing around 1.5 million downloads a day on Ovi Store now and believe that the Skype client for Nokia smartphones will have wide appeal to Symbian users.” With Skype for Nokia smartphones, more than 200 million smartphone users worldwide will be able to take the Skype features they love with them on the move. |
