Usage of Mobile Phone Technology

A report has demonstrated how attitudes are changing with regard to the usage of mobile phone technology. The study showed that many people would use their phone’s extra capabilities to replace other technological devices. This was the information gathered from 1,054 mobile phone users with around 50% of participants regularly using their phone as an alarm. 68% owned an MP3 player but over half said they would regularly use their mobile phone more for listening to music.  Of the 42% of those surveyed that said they did not own a digital camera, 79% stated the reason being that they instead used their mobile phone to take images. 91% of the people said they did not own a calculator, with 80% of those giving the reason why as they used the calculator on their mobile phones.

Cheap International Calls with Mobile Phones

The study also showed that why participants are more likely to use their mobile handset than their land line phone and to input important dates into their mobile phone than use a traditional calendar. The co-founder of rightmobile, Neil McHugh, said, “When we carried out a study last year to see if the mobile was replacing the alarm clock, we did speculate that handsets would also threaten other stand alone devices and it’s now clear from this study that people are starting to use their phones more and more in replacement for cameras, calendars, calculators and even their land line.”
