BT's Fast Broadband Network: BT is thought to be expanding superfast broadband to millions of households in the UK. According to the Financial Times, it is expected to extend its fibre network from 40 percent to 66 percent in the UK homes. This plan is expected to raise the cost of infrastructure beyond the existing budget of £1.5 billion. With this BT's superfast Broadband, people can make cheap international calls to the UK landlines and mobiles. BT's Report Return to Profit:  On the other hand, BT's chief executive, is now expected to announce that the company has lost 35,000 jobs over the past two years and has cut 5,000 more jobs than expected as part of efforts to return to profitability with annual pre-tax profits of up to £1.1bn Majority of the jobs were cut in the U.K, of them many were agency and temporary staff rather than full-time BT employees. BT made a £1.6 billion loss in 2009 due to write-downs in the value of its IT business. BT Global Services had over-optimistic assumptions about the profitability of some of its contracts such as deals with the NHS and Reuters, which prompted BT to take large care against its profit in 2008-09. Recently the telegraph reported that BT will place an increased focus on improving profits at the global services division.
