Smartphones customers such as iPhone, BlackBerry and Nexus One, can get the firm's mobile internet news service from their handset. The registered customers will be automatically directed to the Sky News website, which is available for free. Sky's general manager for mobile, David Gibbs, said, "In less than a year we've already seen millions of downloads of Sky's various iPhone apps and the Sky News has been an important factor in this." Mr. Gibbs added that the launch of the Sky News application for mobiles would give customers a "tailored experience" which may assist to boost the number of mobile broadband customers. According to the Australian Communications and Media Authority “Smartphones, such as the iPhone, were last week said to be behind a surge in demand for mobile broadband which has created a "renaissance" in the sector” However, customers may want to make cheap international calls in order to get upgrade news services from Sky’s news application. It is, therefore an added feature for the consumers to make international calls having news update frequently to their mobile handset. |

Broadband internet provider Sky has launched a news service for the customers with the Internet access on a mobile phone. The Sky News application for the Apple iPhone has boosted more than a million downloads, which led Sky to launch the mobile site.
