Operations Combined: WiMAX spectrum holders have combined their operations with Daisy Group. UK Broadband, which operates WiMAX services in selected areas and holds national 3.4GHz spectrum, is part of the PCCW Group. The transaction follows a twisted history for the 3.6GHz-4.2GHz licenses, which ended up with Daisy last October. The firm gained two blocks of 84MHz in the 3.6GHz to 4.2GHz band, a substantial hoard of spectrum. However, the WiMAX business, known as Freedom4, was non-core to the new owner, as was the similarly branded, and loss making, white label WiFi hotspot business. Matthew Riley, CEO of Daisy Group said, "Our core strategy is to become the leading provider of unified communications to the SME and mid-market business customers. The WiMAX and WiFi businesses were not core to the Daisy Group, and the disposals mean we can focus on our unified communications strategy, as well as improve cash-flow." The deal will bring some economies of scale to the UK WiMAX business. Wireless Products: UK Broadband stated that "New wireless products to be brought to the UK market in a timely manner to meet the increasing growth of wireless data being experienced in the UK, with the emergence of various data hungry end-user devices". The company said it would now be able to offer a range of 4G, WiFi, wireless Ethernet and fixed high speed wireless link services, as well as wholesale wireless data capacity and added that it would now develop a number of wireless products for market deployment, with further details to be announced in due course. Make Cheap international calls: Consumers may want to consider making cheap international calls with mobile phones or landlines. As making international calls is also a hassle free process. Simply add the access number and the country code and make desired calls at your convenient time.
