Sony is set to build a PlayStation for smartphones and other portable gadgets. The Wall Street Journal has recently reported that Sony is working on a handset that is able to play Playstation games, blurs distin Hirokazu Ishizuka, corporate vice-president and head of Asia-Pacific for the handset maker said, "What I can say today is that what we're trying to do is make sure our users can enjoy PlayStation gaming titles with our phones. We're not ready to mention anything about that handset." It's been stuck relying on its Sony Ericsson joint venture, which hasn't had a hit phone in years. Sony has been trying to tackle with Apple since 2005, when they first announced the PSP. At that time, the iPod could not yet play video, which led Sony to give a more significant advantage. However, the manifestation of UMD format is a major achilles heel for the platform. Make Cheap International Call With Sony Ericsson Sony has launched the UMD-less PSP Go along with the app-like Minis. These new products would represent another attempt by Sony to move in on Apple's turf. Both products are reportedly targeted for a 2010 launch. The new gadgets are supposed to launch this year, according to the WSJ. Consumers can choose Sony mobile phones if they offer said facilities in the near future to make cheap international calls.
