Motorola has released an upgrade of Android v2.1 smartphone, the Milestone, which started rolling out to become a popular handset. The announcement, made via Facebook, and also said that : “ Motorola is set to push this firmware solution to MILESTONE to make Android users happy with the features.”

Milestone Increases Performance of Motorola

The updates in v2.1 include features such as wallpapers support, 9 homescreen panes, speech-to-text and various bug and security fixes. Though Eclair, version of the Android mobile OS, is only a minor update to Google, before Froyo, it comes out in the fore-coming days.

To download the firmware update, Android v2.1 for the Milestone, users can update manually from Motorola support website. However, users require a PC to install it and upload it to their mobile phone. Other option is, the Motorola Milestone Android 2.1 OTA (over the air) update, which is apparently being pushed out to Milestone users in various locations.

This update of Android 2.1 for Milestone increases performance of Motorola. In the meantime, other Android devices – HTC and Sony Ericsson has delayed the release of Android v2.1. Sony Ericsson has announced that it will upgrade the X10 family from v1.6 to v2.1 towards the end of the year 2010. Android smarphones lifts the UK market share. According to GFK technology, market research agency, said that almost one in every eight smartphones are sold in the UK.
