Leading Mobile Phone Market:
Apple's iPhone is continuing to lead the market in terms of popularity, according to recently released market statistics. The number of Apple iPhone in the UK is likely to account for one in ten mobile devices in the UK by the end of 2012, according to data collected by a mobile research agency Mobilesquared. The agency expects the number of iPhone handsets in the UK increases by nearly 200 percent in 12 months, from 2.17 million to 6.4 million by the end of 2010. On the whole, the smartphone segment has increased its share of the mobile phone market.
Increase In Sales: Mobilesquared forecasts that this number will increase to around 9.4 million or one in every nine mobile devices in the UK market by the end of 2015. Gavin Patterson, chief markets analyst at Mobilesquared said, "This year is definitely something of a spike in UK sales for the iPhone, and growth will fall away moving forward as more Android devices and other smartphones enter the market". Also Canalys, expert analysis for the high-tech industry research found that the subscriptions for mobile phones using Android operating systems had increased by 886 per cent in the second quarter of the present year.
