Barry Docherty, 24, in
York has been banned from having a mobile phone or SIM card in England
and Wales for five years with subject to repeated fraud calls to 999
in an hour. He was given an anti-social behaviour order after he refused
to stop diverting emergency workers to draw attention to himself. The magistrate prohibited
him from reaching any of the emergency services or dialling 999 unless
it is a genuine emergency. He is also prohibited from being in possession
of a mobile phone or being in possession of a SIM card that could be
used in any electronic device. Outcome of Emergency
Services A spokeswoman for North
Yorkshire Police says that: "We are pleased with today's result,
the order sends a clear warning of the consequences of wasting the emergency
services' time. Valuable police time and resources have been taken up
by this individual, and he deserves the restrictions imposed on his
ability to carry out nuisance and time-wasting communications." When he was jailed last
September, senior civil authority, Judith Smith has said that, “The
public must be protected from people who misuse telecommunications of
any nature. Resources you rot can seriously affect the ability of services
to care for others.” Make Cheap International
