Bonding with BT fixed lines With the growing competition in the Broadband deal, mobile phone giant Orange has signed an agreement with BT fixed line network to receive leased lines and this is to keep up its position in the high speed broadband market. BT will take on the Orange infrastructure and integrate it into its own network as part of the agreement, whilst 61 Orange staff will also reportedly transfer over to BT. Recent merger of the Orange and the T - mobile in the UK has created the group to become a dominant player in the broad band network. This group is the largest mobile phone provider today competing head to head with other market leaders including BT, Virgin Media and TalkTalk. According to the latest information sourc es, leasing of BT fixed line network has given deeper network penetration to the orange and the company wants to capitalise from the contract with BT lines.The head to head competition among the market players is likely to cut down prices on broadband services and benefit households in future. An Orange spokesman said, "Whilst we have made massive improvements to our network over the past two years, with our new leadership position in the UK market, we don't just want to provide a good customer experience - we want it to be exceptional." Deal Benefiting Future Technologies BT deal will allow Orange to maintain and improve its network performance and "take advantage of future technology developments", such as home and TV entertainment services, and to expand its fixed broadband service for business customers. Recent investments made by Orange to install own equipment in local exchanges is several hundreds of millions of pounds and the company estimates for significant investment to reach to a considerable levels. Orange is said to have spent hundreds of millions of pounds installing its own equipment in local exchanges in recent years, but is thought to have faced further significant investment to get the network up to scratch. The company's broadband network is believed to have covered 65 percent of the UK population. Orange has 30 million mobile phone customers in the UK after joining forces with T-Mobile, but has slipped behind in broadband with around 840,000 customers. To strengthen the broadband base, the group is actively engaging itself in making every alternatives moves.
